I labored over the decision of which play food to get for my 2.5 year old. I had purchased the Pottery Barn versions of Hape's toaster, coffee maker, and stand mixer because I preferred the white and natural wood colors as opposed to the standard green and yellow. Satisfied with the quality I opted to purchase the Hape play food as well. I'm glad I did. The size is perfect for little hands and the wood is heavy and resists denting. The paint has not chipped so far and the illustrations are pleasant.I only wish the lids came off the yoghurt and jam so that the pretending to eat from them felt a little more authentic. It would be nice if the caps on the juices came off too, but they would be a choking hazard if they did. As it is, the only choking hazard in this set is the small straw in the juice box which I have put up for now. With the straw removed, this set is suitable for any age.
