Stellex All Seasons Boat Cover 14'-16' - Durable Protection for Boating

This is the BEST reasonably priced small boat cover I have purchased because it is constructed of a stronger, much more durable, waterpoof material. It has been through multiple rain storms and high winds and has shown NO wear. The strapping and edge hemming is also strong, but the KEY point is the Stellex material which is clearly much stronger and more durable than other Classic brand light weight covers in a similiar price range I previously bought that have fairly quickly begun to tear and then shred. This was going to be my last try with a Classics brand cover, but I fortunately found a really Good value for the price. I have multiple boats to cover and almost all brands of the lower to mid range priced covers out there are made of poor quality material and they do not last long in the weather and sun This Stellex material is finally Much better!Well worth the price. We've just installed our second cover. Our small V hull fishing boat is stored outside in Florida in the pounding sun and raging rain storms. Because the cover stretches and tends to pond, we draped the first one over a long center pole pipe and used a wooden brace and tie downs to secure it. It lasted three years. Though faded, it took storm Eta to knock down a small branch to tear a hole in it. If we weren't happy with the first one, we'd not have bought the second one, secured the same way. We've never used it for road travel. No need, and no point in the added cover stress.We also have a Classic Accessories cover for our small camper, also stored outside. It doesn't stand up as well.First off, I never write reviews. but was treated so well I felt compelled. The boat cover arrived when it should and performed just fine. I did get one size larger than what was suggested and am glad of it. The width would have been a very tight fit and now the length is enough to cover the engine. However, after 2 years in the SW Florida sun, the color had faded to several shades lighter than the original deep blue. A 6 inch tear occurred for no good reason other than the fabric was deteriorating. Not surprising in this climate. I patched it with duct tape and ignored it, until a couple of months later a second tear appeared. Remembering then about the 4 year warranty, I got online and filed a claim. A few days later I got an email saying a replacement cover had been shipped. Another few days later it arrived, identical to the original. The company didn't even ask for photographs. i have to agree with their claim of "hassle free warranty". The cover didn't last as long as it should have, but the issue could not have been handled better.I bought this for my Sun Dolphin jon boat, which is 12 long with a 48" beam and slightly pointed front- the boat is poly, not a regular square-nose jon, in case that helps anyone. After having rigged a temporary tarp to keep the spring pollen and other junk from filling my boat, it didn't take long before deciding in trying to find a decent cover, hopefully at a reasonable cost; much research brought me to this item. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I'm wishing it had just one more strap in the area where the trailer tires are, so I could cinch it tighter and keep any rain from pooling in that spot. I'll fix this small issue with a couple of pull straps made to grip tarps, so it's not that bad, and I'm sure many other boat shapes will be fine the way it is.As for value for the price paid, I don't think you could beat it. Plenty of straps are included, along with a handy bag to hold everything. The cover is good quality and it looks like it should last a while. Much nicer than the tarp I had used as a temporary cure, I'm glad I made the purchase.Have gone through a couple rains, one quite heavy. Is holding up pretty good. Not sure that I'd trailer it. I also padded under the cover on the corners and bow. It will sag if you don't "tent" it. Purchased the matching motor cover also.Easy to put on. The straps are kind of built right in and in the right places. Seems pretty durable. Hope I dont have to get the warranty served. Just got it. I really loke thos much more than my last one. Good job guys!I decided on this particular cover after a lot of research, and so far, it's been everything I expected and then some. I fabricated a support system out of 3/4" pvc (about $12 worth) and I have absolutely zero puddling even under very hard rainfall. My particular application did require a couple of extra tarp clamps to really snug things down around my outboard, but that was expected due to the custom power tilt/trim I have installed. Otherwise, it's great quality, and has really decent straps sewn onto the cover that should hold up to trailering *if* you get things good and snug to start with (nothing is going to hold up long flapping in the wind). Like any cover, regardless of price, a support mechanism of some sort will probably be necessary to prevent pooling.UPDATE: Here it is 3 years later (9/26/2017) and this cover is still holding strong! No issues whatsoever. Even the color is holding up, which is surprising under the Texas sun! My boat is dry and debris free everytime I pull the cover. Adding the pvc pipe for support has definitely paid off, as I never have water pooling even after heavy rainfall (obviously, the cover needs to be stretched tight). The internal stretch cord is as good today as the first. No complaints here, I'd definitely buy another one from Stellex... thats *if and when* this one ever fails me!I like the elastic edges that wraps around the boat nicely. The material is very thin, I would not recommend travelling with the cover on. I ordered a size up for my 19 foot boat to cover the outboard and diving platform which works out perfectly. I wish the front and rear of the cover is reinforced with stronger material, I can see these points tearing during use. I hope this last me 4 years at least.Material seems ok. I bought the 14 to 16 ft cover for my boat it is 14.6 and 75 wide and it barley goes over the back of the boat. I put a support in the middle so the water doesn't pool and the cover is right at the edge of the boat, a couple inches wider would have been better. There are not enough straps it rained and the water pooled in between the straps and back of the boat. I am going to get some tarp grips and put 3 more straps on the side and 2 at the back to see if it holds in place.Cover fit really well on my 12’ tinny including the motor. Bought it for dust protection on logging roads and did well. First time out a rear buckle broke and had to get creative for trip home but Amazon has come through sending a replacement with nothing more than online request. Very happy overall and gave four stars until I test the replacement after which will change accordingly. I will however give 5 stars to Amazon for their ease of making a claim and simple return system. Excellent customer service.Having used the cover last summer and stored my boat out in the weather over the winter it has stood up really well. Had some pooling (my bad) so I was concerned but the water stayed out of the boat and other than a slight stretch the cover seems none the worse for it. I hope to get a few more years out of it and at this price have to now increased my review to 5 stars, plus I'm ordering a new one in case it gets discontinued.Great boat cover for a great price. I chose to go with the exact fit cover as per the description and it fits perfectly having four to five inches of material over each edge of the boat. The pull straps are high quality and stitched to the cover in perfect locations to keep the cover tight to the boat. I've removed the cover multiple times and it seems to be holding up nicely after pulling tight on the straps many times. My only complaint is that the with some movement of the cover that the blue paint seems to start peeling in a couple locations with heavier movement. The quality of the fabric is not compromised though which is the most important part. Overall a great cover for a decent price. If I get a couple years out of it I'll be hapoyBought the 12-14' model for my 14' aluminum boat. My beam is around 65". Cover fits great on width, not too large nor small, I have about 4-6" of overhang each side, the length is perfect. The Fastex buckles are ideal for securing the cover down other than needing to feed the straps through from one side to the other across the keel. I think the straps could be cut in half and fastened to the boat trailer, would make reattachment easier. A suggestion to the manufacturer: add another sewn in strap near the rear of the cover. While the packaging indicates its suitable for travel, the rear of mine got shredded within 100km of departure using the attachments points per the instructions. Amazon replaced it for me and covered the shipping, very happy about that. I will not use the cover again for travel, but it is great as a weather cover while the boat is parked.
